Highlights this year

Highlights so far this year

The subject area/s I am most proud of:
I am most proud of my character writing because I was awarded a REACH award for it and also my maths with Miss Hooper and learning all about fractions, decimals and percentages.
Something I am really glad about:
I am really glad that I have worked on my writing because it wasn’t my strong point last year.
Something I used to struggle with but I am feeling better about:
Writing, definitely writing as I wrote before it was not my strong point at all it was probably my least strong point.
Something I have worked very hard at:
PE because I am not a big fan running or sports and I think that I have worked very on my throwing and catching skills with Miss Kay.
Something new I have learned or experienced for the first time:
This year something new I have learned is how to play softball I have play T ball and baseball but I never knew how to play softball and I found out that if you do not absorb that movement of the ball when you catch it, it REALLY hurts your hands and fingers.

What’s next?

Something I am wondering about:
I am wondering when are we going to find out who is in choir or not.
Something I’d like you to know I struggle with:
Writing because I find it hard to concentrate when the whole room is silent and when you can’t think of anything to write.
What I need to be better at:
Presenting in front of the class I get very nervous presenting my work or homework.
Something I’d really like to learn or experience that we haven’t done yet:
I would really like to learn how to play netball because most of my friends play netball and they say that it is really easy but when I watch it, it looks really confusing.

Character Writing

For the past few weeks we have been working on our character writing and I have finally finished mine and Miss Kay thought it was so good she gave me a REACH award. Here is my writing about my big sister Rachel:

Rachel

My wonderful big sister kind and caring and not always daring. All of my actions somehow relate to her, whether its dancing or smiling or being happy. She is always happy somewhere inside, even if she is gloomy. Rachel is now at Massey University studying for a degree in vet science so she isn’t always home which is sad.

She has hazel brown hair which is around shoulder height. Her eyes are a perfect dark brown colour. My sister is quite tall for her age  she is even taller than my mum and my dad. She smells like fresh flowers, that have just been picked in spring. You will normally spot her in shorts and a t-shirt or a t-shirt, cardigan and jeans.

No matter what she loves having animals around whether it is horses or donkeys to ducks or geese. Rachel has a passion for baking, in sunshine or rain, making brownies or cakes, or more cupcakes. One of the things she likes most is school, or anything to do with learning, it could be studying or trying new recipes - anything to do with learning at all. When she has a moment at night time and everyone is all puffed out she will kindly offer to cook anything literally anything from pasta to curry to thai or mexican she will offer to do all including chores. But most of all she loves being home with us her family and friends.

She is fond of Indian curries and naan bread she also had a job in the summer working at Namaskar India in Havelock North. One of her routines is to have yoghurt and rice bubbles for pudding after dinner to calm her stomach down. She also likes sunbathing after a swim and reading her book for a good hour and a half. She is also fond of writing and writes a few sentences of her day before she goes to sleep. Now lets head to the dislikes don’t worry there isn’t too many. Rachel (unlike me) is not a fan of maths at all I mean how can we even be related maths is one of the only subjects I like. Ok lets face it here is another thing she hates and I love:mushrooms! only the best pizza topping apart from cheese. Once again something that makes us different she absolutely will not eat lollies and ice cream it is unbelievable.

These are her hobbies that I know. One of her favourite things to do are to listen to music and do the daily crossword in the newspaper or any type of crosswords, sudokus or word puzzles. She will occasionally come home with one of those magazines that you can win prizes from. Sometimes she gets me a kids one and we do them together, and then we send them in and hope to win something good. But the only thing we have ever won is from the kids section and it was a cookie monster nine piece puzzle for 2-4 year olds. On sunny days every once and a while we shall go for a bike ride down to birdwoods and raid the sweet shop well I will Rachel won’t want to.

These are the things that I wanted to tell you about my sister Rachel and if you meet her one day I hope you remember all the things I have told you about her, because you will have met a very special person.
